Kuala lumpur: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has welcomed 4,216 new undergraduates into its full-time Bachelor’s Degree programme for the 2025/2026 academic session, starting today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, stated that 3,831 students registered at the Johor Bahru campus, while 385 students enrolled at the Kuala Lumpur campus. Out of the total, 3,850 are local students.
He highlighted that the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying enrolled the highest number of students with 628, followed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with 482, Faculty of Science with 448, Faculty of Computing with 411, and both the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with 390 each.
Prof Dr Mohd Shafry emphasized that programmes in science, engineering, and technology remain the top choice due to their promising career prospects and alignment with industry demands, especially as UTM achieved 100 percent in both the Graduate Employability Rate and Graduate Marketability Rate last year.
He further explained that the popularity of these fields reflects students’ trust in UTM’s ability to produce competitive and innovative graduates who are in sync with global technological advancements.
Prof Dr Mohd Shafry assured that the university remains committed to improving the quality of teaching and research. The goal is for graduates to not only master technical knowledge but also possess ethical values, leadership qualities, and resilience, enabling them to become agents of change with a societal impact.
He added that UTM also prioritizes student well-being with various initiatives aimed at empowering student welfare and providing an inclusive campus environment for persons with disabilities (PWD).
