Kuala Lumpur: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the Universiti Malaya (UM) Sports Centre and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), is set to host the second edition of the Sports Synergy Carnival on May 10 and 11. The carnival aims to bring together nine contingents from public universities and agencies across the Klang Valley.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event will see participation from UTM, UM, International Islamic University Malaysia, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council, the Ministry of Defence, the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre, and Bernama. More than 600 athletes are expected to compete in the tournament, which will take place at four different locations, including the campuses of UTM Kuala Lumpur and UM.
The university stated that the sports carnival is designed to enhance the development of sports, discover new talents among staff, and foster cooperation and camaraderie between public higher education institutions and government agencies. This year’s edition marks the first time public agencies are participating in the event.
UM emerged as the overall champion in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2022. This year’s competition will feature nine sports events, including 9-a-side football, netball, men’s volleyball, team darts, men’s and women’s tenpin bowling, and badminton, with categories for men’s, women’s doubles, and women’s singles.
