UTeM and TUKE Partner to Establish Advanced AI and Cybernetics Lab

Melaka: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has entered into a strategic technical collaboration with the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE), Slovakia, to develop a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and cybernetics laboratory. UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin announced that the laboratory will involve the sharing of technology and expertise under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the laboratory, equipped with modern technology, is expected to be developed this year and will be jointly utilised by UTeM and TUKE. The collaboration extends beyond the laboratory, as both institutions will work on high-impact projects like the development of supercomputer and hydrogen technologies, which are gaining global market attention.

The collaboration is part of UTeM's initiatives to enhance AI capabilities within the TVET sector, aligning with national aspirations to advance the field. Other areas of collaboration include higher education mobility, research and innovation programmes, as well as curriculum enhancement.

Massila highlighted plans to strengthen Erasmus+ international credit mobility, and promote experiential learning and cultural exchange between Malaysia and Slovakia. The relationship between UTeM and TUKE has been significant within the international higher education landscape, with numerous initiatives successfully undertaken together.
