MMEA Rescues Four Men After Boat Overturns In Pulau Rebak, Langkawi

Langkawi: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rescued four men after the boat they were on overturned in the waters of Pulau Rebak near Langkawi early this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kedah and Perlis MMEA director, First Admiral (M) Romli Mustafa, stated that a distress call regarding the incident was received at approximately 5.05 am. In response, the MMEA dispatched the boat PENGGALANG 11 to the location to commence the search and rescue operation for the four men, all aged 18.

The four individuals were located by 6.10 am, having managed to hold onto a temporary float while awaiting assistance. They were then transported to the Bukit Malut MMEA Jetty and handed over to Health Ministry officials for further examination before being sent to Sultanah Maliha Hospital, Langkawi.

The operation concluded at 7.30 am. The MMEA emphasized the importance of safety at sea, urging the maritime community and boat operators to wear life jackets, check weather conditions, and ensure their vessels are in proper condition before setting out.
