Kuala lumpur: More than 95 per cent of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) license holders across various categories have actively used the Sawit Intelligent Management System (SIMS).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPOB Director General Datuk Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir highlighted the potential of SIMS to serve as an integrated data hub for the palm oil industry, facilitating more efficient and effective monitoring and traceability across the palm oil supply chain.
In his address, Datuk Ahmad Parveez also mentioned ongoing upgrades to the GeoSAWIT system, incorporating the latest geospatial equipment and technology for mapping oil palm plantation coverage. The GeoSAWIT control room, situated at MPOB Headquarters, is undergoing enhancements expected to be completed by mid-2026. The platform provides spatial data to aid in land-use monitoring, risk assessment, and evidentiary support for market compliance requirements.
Ahmad Parveez emphasized that GeoSAWIT is being developed with a national-scale approach to accommodate all categories of producers, particularly smallholders, ensuring their participation in the increasingly regulated supply chain. The briefing session for Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad on Wednesday focused on SIMS, including its traceability and fleet management modules. These modules track the movement of palm oil via tanker trucks and use geospatial technology for the verification and traceability of oil palm planting, aiming to maintain the competitiveness, transparency, and sustainability of the national palm oil industry.
