Kuala Lumpur: UNIPAC Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd aims to become a major national and regional player in the automotive testing sector in Southeast Asia through a comprehensive engineering approach and continuous investment in smart technology. General manager Daryl Yap said the automotive and engineering solutions provider’s strength lies in its ability to offer end-to-end solutions that meet international standards, from workshop design to equipment selection, which supports its aspiration to be a market leader.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yap highlighted that UNIPAC is not just a supplier but also has an in-house team of 2D and 3D designers who provide recommendations to clients based on their specific needs. The team caters to passenger and commercial vehicles inspection as well as official service centres for various international automotive brands. Yap shared these insights during an appearance on Bernama TV’s business programme ‘Bual Bisnes’.
Yap further explained that UNIPAC collaborates with leading German technology brands such as Beissbarth GmbH, known for producing modern testing and service equipment in the premium segment for automotive workshops and car manufacturers. These collaborations ensure compliance with the latest industry standards and help align international standards with Malaysian and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) standards.
He emphasized that although vehicle test parameters for brakes, headlights, and emissions have not changed significantly, upgrading equipment in line with advancements in software and modern interfaces based on Industry 4.0 technology is crucial. UNIPAC is also expanding its technology offerings in pneumatics, hydraulics, material handling, and civil engineering, leveraging its broad expertise in engineering.
Yap noted the necessity of reassessing the lifespan and effectiveness of existing equipment every five to 10 years, especially for vehicle inspection centres using machines that are over 20 to 30 years old. This practice supports the company’s business sustainability by providing continuous equipment upgrade solutions.
