UniMAP Introduces New Incentives and Fee Exemptions for National Athletes

Kangar: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has introduced victory incentives and college fee exemptions for its athletes who represent the country and the Malaysian University Sports Council (MASUM).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniMAP deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Mohd Mustafa Al Bakri Abdullah stated that the incentives are part of the university’s strategy to enhance its commitment to nurturing high-performing athletes. Athletes from UniMAP who represent the Malaysian team will receive incentives based on the medals they win. Additionally, there will be college fee exemptions for athletes representing Malaysia and MASUM in competitive championships.

Prof Dr Mohd Mustafa emphasized that this initiative is a testament to UniMAP’s support and dedication, with the expectation that more athletes from public institutions of higher learning, especially from UniMAP, will represent the country in the future. He also mentioned that UniMAP had previously launched the UniMAP Positive Culture Sports Scholarship to motivate athletes.

Prof Dr Mohd Mustafa announced that UniMAP student Nur Laili Idani Rosli and a university staff member, Nor Rinda Ramli, have been chosen to represent Malaysia in the woodball event at the SEA Games Thailand 2025. Additionally, UniMAP High Performance Sports Programme secretariat chief Nazmizan Muhammad has been appointed as deputy chef de mission for Malaysia at this year’s SEA Games.
