Sarawak: Thirty areas across ten states in Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 11 am today, with Serian, Sarawak posting the highest reading at 180, nearing the threshold of very unhealthy air quality.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal indicated that Selangor was the most affected state, with six areas registering API readings above 100. Johan Setia recorded a reading of 175. Other areas in Selangor with unhealthy air quality included Shah Alam at 162, Kuala Selangor at 155, Klang at 153, Petaling Jaya at 152, and Banting at 151.

Five areas in Sarawak reported unhealthy API readings, notably Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 180, Sri Aman at 170, Kuching at 163, Samarahan at 156, and Sarikei at 152. In Perak, five areas also experienced unhealthy air quality, including Tanjung Malim at 156, Seri Manjung at 154, Tasek Ipoh at 154, Taiping at 153, and Pegoh Ipoh at 145. Johor recorded unhealthy readings in four areas: Batu Pahat, Segamat, and Tangkak each at 152, and Kota Tinggi at 115.

Additionally, ten other areas with unhealthy API readings included Minden at 155, Balik Pulau at 151, and Seberang Perai at 146 in Penang; Nilai at 155 and Seremban at 152 in Negeri Sembilan; Bukit Rambai at 155 and Alor Gajah at 151 in Melaka; Putrajaya at 156; Sungai Petani at 152 in Kedah; and Batu Muda at 156 in Kuala Lumpur.

Furthermore, 37 areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings, while none registered good, very unhealthy, or hazardous readings so far. An API reading between zero and 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 are considered hazardous. API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
