Kuala lumpur: UMNO Youth representatives who fail to perform, prioritize personal interests over the party, or are unreachable will not receive renomination in the upcoming general election, stated UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh. He emphasized that being an elected representative is a responsibility granted by both the people and the party, which demands commitment and dedication.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Akmal outlined that any Youth representatives who are more concerned with their self-interest than the party's, demonstrate laziness, or are difficult to contact, should be reported. He assured that such representatives would not be considered for nomination again. This statement was made during his policy speech at the UMNO Youth General Assembly (PAU) 2026.
Dr. Akmal urged the current 11 elected representatives from the wing to acknowledge the hard work of the party machinery that aided their election victories and cautioned against becoming self-centered after assuming office. He reminded them that their positions were achieved through collective efforts and warned against arrogance towards fellow party members.
In addition, Dr. Akmal announced the wing's decision to adopt the child of the late former Maran UMNO Youth division chief, Mohd Radzi Rahimi. An initial sum of RM36,000 will be deposited into a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) account for the five-year-old child, Muhammad Riz Haziq. He clarified that this initiative reflects the wing's commitment to the welfare of their late comrade's family and is not intended as charity or for publicity.
The announcement follows last month's tragic accident where Mohd Radzi, his wife Nuriani Mohammad Jafri, their son Muhammad Rizz Hazim, and brother-in-law Mohammad Nizam Mohammad Jafri were killed by a fallen tree crushing their vehicle.
The 2026 UMNO General Assembly is taking place from September 9 to 12 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) with the participation of delegates from all three party wings, including 1,163 Wanita delegates, 1,171 Youth delegates, and 1,145 Puteri delegates.
