UMNO and BN Reaffirm Commitment to Federal Government Through Parliamentary Term

Kuala lumpur: UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) remain committed and serious about fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in the Federal Government until the end of the current parliamentary term, says UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He emphasized that BN's dedication to their roles in the government is not something to be altered lightly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled highlighted that BN's commitment to the Federal Government was made with the understanding that political stability is necessary for the country. He clarified that despite having contested against Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in previous state elections, BN did not see the results in states like Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan as a reason to withdraw its support at the Federal level.

Mohamed Khaled, who also serves as Defence Minister, pointed out that differences at the state level do not hinder cooperation at the Federal level, describing this as a unique aspect of the nation's political structure. He stressed that BN perceives the 16th General Election (GE16) as a decision to be addressed when the time is right, rather than altering its present commitment to working with PH in the Federal Government.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, speaking at the 2026 PKR National Congress, reiterated that the party would continue its cooperation with BN and UMNO at the Federal level to maintain political stability and support the welfare of the people.
