UMK To Launch 2025-2030 Strategic Plan Focused On Innovation And Entrepreneurship

Kuala Lumpur: Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is set to launch its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan (UMK30), focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and internationalisation to ensure the institution remains relevant to current needs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Arham Abdullah stated that UMK30 is not merely an initiative to strengthen academic excellence but a transformative movement aimed at producing competitive graduates and campus communities equipped with critical thinking skills and relevant competencies to navigate global challenges.

“To realise this vision, we will commit to implementing 14 initial strategic measures. A dedicated task force will oversee and coordinate the execution of all programmes under UMK30,” he said during the UMK 2025 vice-chancellor’s address at Dewan Tuanku Canselor UMK today.

The university also appointed five high-profile individuals as Distinguished Industry and Entrepreneurship Advisors to enhance its entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In line with its commitment to digital readiness, UMK will achieve full WiFi and cellular coverage across all campuses this year, supported by RM14 million in funding from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, international student enrollment at UMK has seen significant growth, reaching 400 students compared to just 71 in 2019, with a target of 1,000 this year.

“Given the current momentum, UMK is optimistic about its continued expansion and its aspiration to become a globally recognised entrepreneurial university,” he added.
