Kuala lumpur: Two men were arrested with heroin in their vehicle after they hit three other cars while being pursued by police along Jalan Kuching here yesterday. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said both men, the driver aged 40, and passenger aged 42, were found to be in a vehicle being driven suspiciously at about 7.46 pm and attempted to evade a police check.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the driver refused to stop the vehicle when instructed, prompting a chase involving a police narcotics team from Wangsa Maju to Jalan Kuching. The pursuit reached a critical point when the suspects' vehicle, traveling from DUKE Highway towards the city center, was driven dangerously between lanes and eventually lost control, colliding with three stationary vehicles in traffic.
Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that the suspects' vehicle struck a Perodua Bezza driven by a 42-year-old man, a Honda City driven by a 20-year-old woman, and a Perodua Viva driven by an elderly person in their 60s. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The police swiftly apprehended both suspects at the scene, and a subsequent inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of 19.63 grams of drugs, suspected to be heroin.
The suspects are set to be remanded today, and the case is under investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Datuk Fadil Marsus urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Sentul district police headquarters hotline at 03-4048 2222, the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999, the Jalan Tun H S Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999, or the nearest police station.
