Perak: Two men were killed in separate crashes at Kilometre 281.1 (southbound) of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and in Kampung Sungai Ranggam, Teluk Intan, today. Ipoh District Police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah reported the incidents, noting that the first occurred on PLUS in the morning, where a 21-year-old motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a lorry. The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to BERNAMA News Agency, preliminary investigations revealed that a lorry, driven by a 54-year-old man, was traveling in the left lane from Bercham towards Kuala Lumpur. The motorcycle, coming from behind in the same lane, allegedly lost control and collided with the lorry. The motorcyclist's body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem examination. He was part of a motorcycle convoy traveling from Nibong Tebal to Sungkai. Both vehicles involved in the collision have been detained for inspection by Puspakom, and a urine test wi ll be conducted on the lorry driver as part of the ongoing investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. In a separate incident, an Indonesian man was killed when the mini tractor he was driving overturned into a drain behind a mosque in Kampung Sungai Ranggam. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations division assistant director Sabarozi Nor Ahmad stated that a call regarding the incident was received at 1.51 pm. Upon arrival, it was found that the police were already present at the scene. The mini tractor was being used to transport palm oil fruit bunches when it crashed. The 25-year-old Indonesian victim was trapped but was extricated by members of the public before Fire and Rescue personnel arrived. The victim was pronounced dead and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
