Kuala lumpur: The MADANI Government has approved an additional allocation of RM20 million for poverty eradication programmes in Kelantan, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He noted that the allocation will be overseen by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) in Kelantan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar emphasized the importance of addressing local issues impacting the community, such as drainage problems, which he has discussed with district officers. He stated, "Although hardcore poverty has been addressed, poverty remains widespread, including in Kelantan. Therefore, I will provide an additional special allocation amounting to RM20 million in Kelantan for projects to assist the poor."
Anwar made these remarks during a meet-and-greet session and visit to Masjid Gong Chapa, which was attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
During the event, Anwar also discussed the ongoing development at Masjid Gong Chapa. The mosque, which received a RM4 million allocation in April last year, has moved into Phase 2 of its implementation. This phase involves the construction of a multipurpose hall and landscaping, with completion expected by May 31, 2027.
Phase 1 of the mosque's upgrading process was completed on March 31. It included enhancements to the main prayer hall, toilets, store, mortuary room, and the imam's residence. Anwar mentioned that with the completion of Phase 1, the mosque now offers modernized facilities, providing nearby residents with more complete and comfortable worship amenities.
