Muar: Police detected two small explosions while fighting the peatland fire, which entered its ninth day, at the Johor State Farmers' Organisation (PPNJ) at Batu 13/14 in Air Hitam here.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz stated that the second explosion occurred in sector D yesterday, following the first one detected on Tuesday, February 3. Both incidents are suspected to have resulted from the underground fire.
Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the explosions, but investigations are challenged by limited access. The dense smoke and the unstable structure of the peat soil have impeded progress.
To ensure safety, sector D has been completely closed off by police, and firefighting operations will continue with water bombing techniques. The public has been advised to avoid the area and adhere to instructions from authorities. Police will provide updates as more information becomes available.
