Shah alam: Two people were killed and two others critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on Kilometre 11.9 of the Federal Highway heading towards Klang yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol stated that the crash occurred at about 4.20 am. It involved a Honda HR-V, driven by a man with a female passenger in their 50s, which rear-ended a Proton Suprima in the rightmost lane. The Proton was driven by a woman in her 20s.
All three victims reportedly exited their vehicles and were standing between them when a Mercedes, unable to avoid the collision, struck the Proton Suprima.
The Honda HR-V driver and passenger were killed at the scene, while the drivers of the Proton Suprima and Mercedes sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Hospital Shah Alam.
The cause of death for the Honda HR-V occupants was identified as head and body injuries from the accident. Investigations revealed they were friends, not spouses. Blood and urine samples have been taken from the Mercedes driver for analysis.
The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman at 019-7757354 from Shah Alam district police headquarters.
ACP Ramsay advised motorists to stop in safe locations if involved in accidents and to avoid standing on the road, particularly in the right lane.
