Chennai: TVS Motor Company Ltd (TVS Motor) has signed a Joint Development Agreement with Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai Motor) to develop and commercialise electric three-wheelers (E3W) for India's last-mile mobility segment. The partnership marks a significant move towards enhancing sustainable urban transportation solutions in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this collaboration follows the unveiling of an E3W concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It highlights both companies' commitment to addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options. TVS Motor's President of Group Strategy, Sharad Mishra, emphasized that the agreement represents a crucial step in expanding their collaboration on electric mobility solutions.

'By bringing together complementary strengths, including our E3W platform, engineering expertise, and deep understanding of customer needs, we are well-positioned to deliver purpose-built products for India and additional markets,' Mishra stated.

Joongsun Ko, Hyundai Motor's Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Planning, noted that the partnership aims to improve access to safer and more sustainable transport across India. Hyundai Motor will spearhead the design and co-development of the vehicles, utilizing its research and development capabilities, advanced mobility technologies, and human-centric design approach.

TVS Motor will contribute its electric vehicle platform, three-wheeler engineering expertise, and local market knowledge, while leading manufacturing and sales in India, including potential exports. This collaboration is expected to significantly impact the last-mile mobility sector with innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
