Perlis: The Perlis government has declared April 17 as an occasional holiday in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration marking the 25th year of the reign of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli stated that the declaration was made in accordance with the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369) to enable the people of the state to celebrate the historic occasion together. He announced, ‘The Perlis government is pleased to announce this occasional holiday to commemorate the historic moment of the 25th year of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin’s reign as the Raja of Perlis,’ during his speech at the state government’s 2025 Aidilfitri Celebration today.
The event was honored by the presence of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid. Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
The Silver Jubilee celebration is scheduled for April 17, beginning with the Royal Banquet as the main event. This significant gathering will be attended by the Malay Rulers, Yang di-Pertua Negeri, and the Sultan of Brunei. Various official and accompanying events will also be held intermittently in conjunction with the celebration.
