Paroi: The Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium is undergoing a multi-phase upgrade that exceeds RM6 million, enhancing facilities for teams and supporters.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Youth and Sports Development Committee chairman Datuk Mustapha Nagoor announced that the project is funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Seremban City Council (MBS). It encompasses four main phases, two of which have been completed, with the remaining phases currently in progress.
The completed projects include the refurbishment of the home and visiting team changing rooms, costing approximately RM500,000, and a comprehensive repainting of the stadium at over RM600,000. The ongoing work focuses on upgrading the stadium's floodlights and lighting system, which involves rewiring and relocating poles with an allocation of about RM4.3 million, alongside repairs to public toilets and the surau, costing around RM650,000.
Datuk Mustapha Nagoor provided this update to reporters during an inspection of the stadium's renovation. He also mentioned that the project for upgrading the lighting system, including the floodlights, is anticipated for completion by November, contingent on the suitability of the existing pole foundations. If unsuitable, the completion would extend to March next year. The Public Works Department (JKR) is presently conducting a technical inspection to assess the sturdiness of these foundations.
This renovation marks the first major upgrade since 2004, undertaken for the Malaysia Games (SUKMA), highlighting the necessity for these improvements after two decades. The state government expressed gratitude towards KBS for the funding, which also includes upgrading the Hockey Stadium in Seremban 2 at a cost exceeding RM5 million.
In related news, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor emphasized the importance for Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) management and coaching staff to develop effective strategies and ensure players maintain high morale for the upcoming 2026-2027 Super League and FA Cup matches. He noted the robust fan support, with over 2,000 attendees at a recent afternoon match.
