Sarawak: Sarawak para tenpin bowler Nur Syazwani Marais completed a hat-trick of consecutive gold medals in the women's TPB4 (intellectual impairment) singles event after retaining her title at the Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 today. The 33-year-old repeated her victories at the 2022 Para SUKMA Kuala Lumpur and 2024 Para SUKMA Sarawak, becoming the first athlete to complete a three-edition gold-medal sweep in the category.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, competing at Sunway Mega Lanes, Bandar Sunway, Syazwani produced a strong performance to amass 1,094 pinfalls from six games, recording scores of 166, 183, 188, 190, 211, and 156. Selangor representative Eliyana Johari took silver with 1,026 pinfalls, while another Sarawak athlete, Azeera Jalani, claimed bronze with 966.

Syazwani said she felt some pressure to secure the gold, but it did not significantly affect her focus throughout the competition. She expressed satisfaction with her performance, noting that her preparations had gone well and she remained focused on implementing what her coach had taught her. "My challenge was trying to remember what the coach taught me because sometimes there are so many steps that he teaches and I often forget them," she told reporters after the competition.

Meanwhile, Sabah's Muhammad Haiqal Azani Azman won gold in the mixed TPB2 (intellectual impairment) open event with 990 pinfalls. Perak's Mohd Shaiful Mustapa took silver with 935, while Nizamuddin Shahidin of Perak won bronze with 906.

In the men's TPB4 (intellectual impairment) singles event, Kedah's S. Joash Daniel Shan emerged champion with 1,336 pinfalls, ahead of Selangor's Muhammad Razif Iskandar Abd Muiz (1,268) and Terengganu's Muhammad Harith Azhfar Hazlan (1,264), who took silver and bronze respectively.
