Kuala lumpur: Transport Expo Asia (TXA) will be held biennially alongside the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) to provide a platform for showcasing innovative transport-related solutions, particularly digital advancements in the industry, as announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the upcoming TXA 2025, themed ‘Future on the Move: Digital, Sustainable Transport, Agile Logistics and ESG-Driven Supply Chains’, aims to highlight the significant trends influencing the future of the transport and logistics sector in Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region. The exhibition will focus on four transformative strategies guiding the industry forward.
Minister Loke indicated that this year marks the initial introduction of the exhibition to the transportation industry, with plans for a large-scale event every two years commencing from next year. He revealed these details at the launch of TXA and the Road Safety Congress (RSC) 2025.
TXA will occur alternately with LIMA, which traditionally focuses on the defence sector. Loke explained that while the Ministry of Transport previously co-organised LIMA alongside the Ministry of Defence, the decision was made to establish a separate exhibition dedicated to the transport sector due to increasing demand for exhibition space for defence-related displays.
Loke emphasized that TXA will serve as a vital platform for industry players and stakeholders across various segments, including aviation, maritime, land, heavy vehicles, and logistics. The focus will be on IT companies offering digital solutions to enhance efficiency within the transport sector’s supply chain.
Furthermore, TXA is expected to foster growth among small and medium enterprises, positioning Malaysia as a notable destination for international transport exhibitions. Loke referenced the global success of specialised exhibitions, such as the renowned rail exhibition in Germany, as a benchmark for TXA.
Addressing Malaysia’s logistics performance, which improved to 26th position in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index 2023, Loke urged for a holistic view of logistics, beyond isolated issues like aerotrain services. He highlighted Malaysia’s appeal in enhancing the logistics ecosystem, exemplified by the newly launched Maersk Mega Distribution Centre, a significant investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
Loke assured that Malaysia will continue to attract high-value logistics investments by streamlining business processes and regulations. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to facilitating business through initiatives like the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH), emphasizing the importance of efficiency in reducing costs and promoting trade.
