Toshiba Unveils New 40V eFuse ICs for Enhanced Circuit Protection

Tokyo: Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has introduced its latest addition to the electronic fuse (eFuse ICs) lineup with the launch of the 40V TCKE6 series. This new series includes five products aimed at improving power line circuit protection.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the TCKE6 series comprises the TCKE601RA, TCKE601RL, TCKE602RM, TCKE603RA, and TCKE603RL models, all of which are now shipping. These eFuse ICs offer physical fuse-like short-circuit protection and incorporate additional features such as current-limiting, overvoltage, and thermal protection.

Toshiba highlighted that the integrated functions of the TCKE6 series are designed to prevent excessive current or voltage from affecting downstream components. This integration simplifies circuit design by minimizing the need for multiple discrete components.

The products in the TCKE6 series support a wide input voltage range, from 4.4V to 30V, and are rated at 40 volts, making them versatile for power management applications in 5V, 9V, 12V, and 24V systems. Their low on-resistance of 52 milliohms contributes to reduced power loss and improved efficiency during operation.

These eFuse ICs are packaged in compact TSOP6F formats and are offered with either FLAG or EN functions. They also feature auto-retry or latched recovery modes, while one model provides a switchable recovery mode without FLAG or EN features, allowing for adaptable system design.

Toshiba plans to continue developing eFuse IC products to meet varying equipment needs and to expand its product offerings in this field.
