SUKMA 2026: Perlis Gold Medallists To Get RM10,000 Incentive If State Wins 20 Golds

Sukma: An incentive of RM10,000 will be given to winners of gold medals in individual events if the 20-gold target set by the Perlis government is achieved at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA). Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramlli said this is to encourage the athletes and officials to embrace the set target.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, sports programmes for 2026 will be geared towards achieving the 20-gold target at the 22nd Selangor SUKMA 2026. This target must be achieved to ensure the Perlis State Sports Development Plan 2022-2026, which aims to secure 20 gold medals from eight sports, is realised.

Mohd Shukri acknowledged the challenge of the 20-gold target but expressed confidence that it can be achieved with the support of an integrated development programme outlined under Project 8:20. He made these remarks while tabling the state’s Budget 2026, themed ‘Perlisku Bestari Rakyat Sejahtera’ at the State Legislative Assembly sitting at the Seri Putra Complex.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shukri mentioned that the Perlis State Woodball Association will serve as co-sponsors of the 10th Woodball World Cup next year in an effort to strengthen the state’s image as an international sports destination. The championship will involve 20 countries and will be held from July 25-31, 2026. Through this world-class championship, Perlis aims to consolidate its position as the country’s woodball development centre, thereby enhancing its international profile.
