Toku Secures US$5 Mln Funding, Appoints Advisory Board Chair.


KUALA LUMPUR: Toku, a provider of enterprise cloud communications and customer experience solutions in Asia Pacific (APAC), has successfully closed a US$5 million Series A Extension round led by Betatron Venture Group. (US$1=RM4.70) Concurrently, the company has also established an Advisory Board to guide its strategic growth, appointing Lim Hwee Hua as Chair, underscoring Toku’s commitment to strong governance and strategic insight as it scales its operations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the company expressed its honor in having Lim join as Chair of the Advisory Board. Toku Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Laboulle, highlighted Lim’s leadership, experience, and strategic vision as crucial assets for the company’s next stage of growth. Her appointment is seen as a strategic alignment with Toku’s mission to deliver impactful solutions and strengthen its position in the customer experience technology market.

The funding round, which saw participation from the Hong Kong Innovation and Technolo
gy Venture Fund (ITVF) and other investors, increases Toku’s total funding to US$18 million since its inception in April 2018. This capital will be instrumental in driving international expansion and enhancing Toku’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered customer engagement solutions.

The recent financial boost will support the advancement of Toku’s AI Chat and AI Voice Agent technologies, aimed at improving customer interactions across various languages and regional dialects. With a revenue target exceeding US$30 million for 2024 and plans to achieve net profitability, Toku is poised to strengthen its presence in APAC, particularly through expansion efforts in Hong Kong, while exploring new opportunities in South America and Europe.

By prioritizing revenue growth, cost efficiency, and strategic market entry, Toku expects to become cash flow positive by 2025, as it scales its operations to meet the growing demand in these expanding markets.
