Kuala Lumpur:Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) customers who consume up to 800 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month will receive a pro-rata credit in their October 2026 electricity bills. This credit is part of an adjustment for September's billing.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, The initiative comes after the government's announcement on September 17 to increase the domestic customer protection threshold from 600 kWh per month to 800 kWh per month. As a result, customers with monthly consumption of 800 kWh or less, from September 1 to December 31, 2026, will be exempt from the automatic fuel adjustment charge, the RM10 retail charge, and the eight percent Service Tax.
The adjustments will be reflected on customers' bills under the descriptions "BILL ADJUSTMENT (SEPT 2026)" and "SERVICE TAX ADJUSTMENT (8.0 per cent) (SEPT 2026)." TNB has also advised customers to adopt energy efficiency measures to optimize savings.
Customers are encouraged to monitor their daily consumption using the myTNB app to maintain usage below 25 kWh and set an Energy Budget under RM328 for homes with smart meters. Additionally, TNB suggests using energy efficiency tips, such as setting air conditioning temperatures between 24°C and 26°C, using the timer function, and considering the Time-of-Use (TOU) scheme to move high-power appliance use to off-peak hours.
