Kemaman: Three four-month-old White Bengal tiger cubs, unveiled to the public for the first time today, have become the newest attraction at Kemaman Zoo in Bukit Takal, Kijal.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Tourism, Culture, Environment, and Climate Change Committee chairman Datuk Razali Idris announced that the three male cubs, named Rory, Bima, and DB, were born to White Bengal tiger pair Lela Andika and Luna Seroja. The cubs were born on March 14 after Luna Seroja completed a 104-day gestation period.

Datuk Razali Idris highlighted the significance of this birth, stating, "The birth of these three cubs is a remarkable achievement because it is a rare occurrence for White Bengal tigers. White Bengal tigers typically give birth to only one or two cubs per litter. This time, however, Luna Seroja delivered three male cubs, making the birth especially significant."

White Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) are a rare genetic variant known for their distinctive white coats and black stripes, making them one of the most popular attractions in zoos around the world. The cubs' two-year-old parents were brought to the zoo from Cape Town, South Africa, in 2024.

Razali assured that the cubs are being closely monitored by the zoo's veterinary team and animal keepers to ensure their health and growth remain optimal. He expressed hopes that the new attraction would help visitors gain a greater understanding of the importance of conserving endangered species and appreciating the country's wildlife.

Meanwhile, Kemaman Zoo director Wan Muzammir Wan Ariff shared that the zoo, established in 2009, is home to about 380 animals from various species. Last year, the zoo welcomed about one million visitors, and with the debut of the three White Bengal tiger cubs, the number of visitors is expected to increase to over 1.5 million this year.
