Menora tunnel: A man was injured after becoming trapped in the driver's seat of a lorry following a three-lorry collision at Km257.2 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, past the Menora Tunnel, this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the department received a distress call at 8.58 am. Following the call, a fire engine and seven personnel from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

The accident involved three lorries. These included a Hino bonded lorry carrying mixed cargo, an Isuzu bonded lorry transporting beverages, and a Volvo trailer carrying frozen goods. A 27-year-old man was trapped in the driver's seat of the Hino lorry upon the arrival of emergency responders. The collision blocked all northbound lanes, leading to significant traffic congestion.

Sabarodzi explained that the other two drivers, aged 59 and 33, from the Isuzu and Volvo lorries respectively, were able to exit their vehicles unaided and were uninjured. The Hino lorry driver, who sustained minor injuries to his legs, was later handed over to Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel for further treatment. The operation concluded at 10.54 am.

Kuala Kangsar police chief ACP Heisham confirmed the accident, noting that police investigations at the scene were ongoing.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), in a post on X, reported that the accident had resulted in a seven-kilometre traffic jam due to the blockage of all northbound lanes. LLM stated that its patrol teams, Incident Support Services (ISS), JBPM, and Emergency Medical Patrol Vehicle (EMPV) were present at the scene. A mandatory exit at Ipoh South was activated to manage the traffic flow following the accident.
