Lumut: Police have arrested three individuals, including a police officer, following the discovery of over 300 grammes of methamphetamine, heroin, and cannabis within a lock-up at the Lumut Police Station.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin revealed that the Manjung district police headquarters discovered the drugs with two detainees, both in their 40s, inside the lock-up around 8:30 am. He detailed the seizure, stating that authorities found 16 plastic tube packets suspected to contain methamphetamine weighing approximately 109.54 grammes, alongside 16 packets suspected to contain heroin weighing about 110.37 grammes. Additionally, 23 plastic tube packets containing dried leaves, believed to be cannabis, were found, weighing around 142.31 grammes.

The estimated total value of the drugs seized is RM18,534. In connection with the discovery, a constable in his 30s stationed at the police station was also apprehended to aid in the investigation. Preliminary urine tests indicated that two of the detainees tested positive for methamphetamine, whereas the police officer tested negative and had no prior criminal record.

Mohd Alwi stated that all three individuals have been remanded for seven days, from the day of arrest until August 18, to assist with investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
