Three Held, Drugs Worth Over RM32,000 Seized In Pekan Raids

Pekan: Police arrested three individuals, including a married couple, in two separate raids and seized drugs worth over RM32,000 here on Sunday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pekan police chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin stated that the 1,033.46 grams of drugs, including syabu and yaba pills, could supply over 2,000 addicts for a day. He detailed that the first raid in Kampung Geylang led to the arrest of a 49-year-old unemployed man with five prior drug offences. Police recovered 831.9 grams of suspected syabu hidden in a safe during this operation.

In addition to the syabu, authorities seized a floral-patterned zip bag containing 201.56 grams of suspected yaba pills. The second raid took place in Kampung Pelangkah, resulting in the arrest of a 48-year-old man, who has 19 drug-related records, along with his 28-year-old wife, who has three.

All suspects, who are locals, have been remanded for six days until August 30 for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
