TH Implements Robust Cybersecurity Measures for Malaysian Pilgrims’ Data

Kuala Lumpur: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is taking significant steps to enhance the security of Malaysian haj pilgrims’ data by ensuring that all digital systems and applications used in the 1446H/2025M haj operations comply with stringent cybersecurity guidelines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, TH Information Technology operations director Hanizam Hanif stated that all systems developed are safeguarded by firewall technology and data encryption methods. This ensures the confidentiality and security of pilgrims’ personal information against potential cyber threats. Hanizam emphasized adherence to the Risk Management in Technology (RMIT) guidelines issued by Bank Negara Malaysia, reinforcing system security and resilience.

Hanizam reassured that pilgrims’ personal information is classified as confidential and is well-protected through advanced security technology, minimizing the risk of exposure or data leaks. Additionally, TH has integrated its i-Sihat system with the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s MyVAS and MySejahtera systems. This integration facilitates easier access to pilgrims’ health information by medical personnel in the Holy Land, reducing dependence on physical records.

To guarantee stable internet connectivity, Hanizam announced TH’s partnership with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to upgrade fibre optic infrastructure in pilgrims’ accommodations. Furthermore, TH has secured 5G mobile data services from major Saudi providers-STC, Mobily, and Zain-for outdoor operations, including in the Masyair area.

Hanizam expressed optimism that these digital enhancements and comprehensive use of information technology will improve the worship experience for Malaysian pilgrims, ensuring smooth haj operations. Pilgrims can also utilize the THiJARI, THhujjaj, e-Bimbingan, and e-Taib applications to manage their affairs during their stay in the Holy Land. These applications are designed to be user-friendly and accessible for all age groups, including older pilgrims.
