Terengganu KPDN Seizes Over 30,000 Litres Of Diesel Over Illegal Transfer

Kuala Nerus: The Terengganu branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized a tanker lorry and five skid tanks, containing 32,760 litres of diesel, at a storage facility in the Gong Badak Industrial Estate, Kuala Nerus, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation was led by KPDN’s director, Saharuddin Mohd Kia, and took place at 12.30 pm after authorities discovered illegal diesel transfer activities. This covert operation revealed that the syndicate involved had been using a tanker with deceptive markings, including the logo and words ‘National Fishermen’s Association’ and ‘Fishermen’s Subsidised Diesel,’ to circumvent detection.

During the raid, about 16,000 litres of diesel were in the process of being transferred from the tanker lorry to the skid tanks via rubber pipes. Further inspection revealed that the tanker lorry was operating without the necessary licence, permit, or letter of approval from the supply controller, which are mandatory for handling controlled goods like diesel.

The seized items are estimated to be worth RM371,069.86. Authorities have detained a local man in his 60s and a Myanmar national for further investigation. Saharuddin noted that an investigation paper has been opened, and inquiries are continuing under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
