Pulau tioman: Telecommunication companies (telcos) have been urged to act immediately to restore mobile services that have been disrupted for over 10 days in Kampung Salang, Pulau Tioman, Rompin.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-governmental organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal stated that local leaders had complained about the prolonged service disruption since December 17. He emphasized the importance of telecommunications, noting the vital role they play in ensuring safety, economic stability, and community well-being.
Fadzli highlighted the increased concern due to the unstable weather conditions in parts of Pahang, including Rompin, which have recently experienced flooding on Pulau Tioman. He called upon Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to enforce stricter actions under existing laws to compel telcos to address such disruptions responsibly.
The chairman stressed that it is crucial for telcos to take these issues seriously and swiftly resolve the problems faced by rural and remote communities across Pahang, ensuring that basic communication services are restored promptly.
