Setiu: A 16-year-old boy was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car along Jalan Kampung Mangkuk, Setiu, last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Setiu Police chief Supt Zahril Asri Mohd Zain mentioned that the crash involved a Proton Wira and a Honda AFS110 motorcycle and occurred at about 8.50 pm. Police received a report on the incident at 9.05 pm.
He stated that Che Muhammad Alif Ikhwan Che Amat, from Kampung Bukit Maras, succumbed to severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Initial investigations found that the Proton Wira, driven by a 19-year-old man from Kampung Penarik, was travelling towards Kampung Mangkuk when the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the scene. The car then veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the victim's motorcycle," he said in a statement today.
Zahril Asri added that the car driver, who sustained injuries, was taken to the Setiu Hospital. The teenager's body was also transported to the same hospital.
