Pasir mas: A teenager was among two motorcyclists who died in separate road accidents in Pasir Mas on Wednesday, police said. Pasir Mas district police chief ACP Mazlan Hassan stated that the first accident occurred at about 5 pm on Jalan Lubok Gong Jeram Perdah (Old Rantau Panjang Road) and involved a Honda EX5 motorcycle and a Honda Jazz car.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 19-year-old local rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was riding at high speed before losing control and veering into the opposite lane occupied by an oncoming vehicle. Due to the proximity of the two vehicles, the rider could not return to his lane, resulting in a collision with the front right side of the car. The victim sustained severe injuries, including a severed right arm, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the second fatal accident reported around 8.30 am, a 47-year-old local woman lost her life after her Yamaha Ego Avantis motorcycle is believed to have skidded on its own along Jalan Kubang Kuau in Kampung Pohon Stol, Rantau Panjang. The victim suffered severe head injuries and succumbed after battling for her life for 19 hours while receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM) in Kubang Kerian.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
