Teachers’ Role in Shaping Future Generations Highlighted on Teachers’ Day 2026

Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today emphasized the vital role of educators in shaping the nation's future during his Teachers' Day 2026 message, acknowledging teachers as the core of the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, in a Facebook post, highlighted that behind every successful individual, such as doctors, engineers, and leaders, is a teacher who shaped their character. While a teacher's name may not always be mentioned, their contributions are deeply embedded in their students' lives. He noted that the theme for Teachers' Day 2026, "Guru Bitara Nadi Negara" (Exemplary Teachers, Heartbeat of the Nation), signifies appreciation for educators' sacrifices in shaping future generations.

Ahmad Zahid expressed that teachers are essential for imparting knowledge and values, enabling the country's progression toward a better future. Ipoh, Perak, plays host to the 55th National Teachers' Day celebration, which spans two days.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan also expressed gratitude to educators for their dedication and service. In his Facebook post, he reiterated that the theme, Guru Bitara Nadi Negara, aptly reflects teachers' roles as mentors and inspiration sources for students. Ramanan underscored the tireless efforts teachers make in guiding individuals to success and acknowledged their unwavering commitment despite challenges in the evolving educational landscape.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang extended his appreciation to teachers, particularly those at Taska and Tabika Perpaduan, for their role in fostering togetherness and cultural harmony among children. He recognized educators as initiators of knowledge and character builders, essential in Malaysia's diverse society.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, in her Facebook post, highlighted the significance of the national Teachers' Day Awards Ceremony, which acknowledges educators' excellence and contributions in various categories. She emphasized that an excellent teacher not only drives academic success but also shapes individuals with high morals and resilience. Citing Dr. Velerie Wheelervon Primus's work, Fadhlina illustrated the impact of inclusive education and the emotional wellbeing of students, reinforcing the meaningful contributions teachers make to the nation.
