Nibong tebal: The Ministry of Education (MOE) fully complies with the recommendations and advice issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in addressing the issue of tuberculosis (TB) or consumption. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that her ministry has been informed that the situation regarding the disease is under control and is being closely monitored by the MOH.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, any actions involving educational institutions are being carried out based on the public health guidelines set by the Health Ministry to ensure the safety of students, educators, and school staff. The MOE has pledged to continue adhering to all directives provided.
Previously, several states reported the detection of tuberculosis cases involving community and school clusters. Close contact screening and preventive measures have been implemented by the State Health Department in accordance with MOH guidelines. On February 4, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed a tuberculosis cluster in Kota Tinggi. As of February 4, 33 positive cases were detected from screening 804 close contacts.
Meanwhile, at the Nibong Tebal Festival 2026, Fadhlina emphasized the importance of community festivals in engaging the local community and younger generation. Dr Dzulkefly, who is also the Member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal, proposed efforts to revive natural attractions, such as fireflies, in collaboration with a research team studying the conservation of the species.
Dr Dzulkefly also highlighted the importance of local food heritage, mentioning the unique variety of snails sold during Ramadan and the Black Thorn durian from Nibong Tebal, which contribute to the area's distinct identity and attractions.
