Tawau: A total of 335 victims from 96 families affected by floods in several areas in Tawau have been placed at a temporary relief centre (PPS) tonight. The Secretariat of the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee stated that the affected victims are being housed at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Tawau Sports Complex, which has been open since 11 am today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, all the victims are residents from four villages affected by the flood disaster. Continuous rain since last night caused Tawau and its surrounding areas to be hit by floods before a flood disaster was declared at 8.30 am today.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor directed all relevant agencies to mobilise all assets and manpower to expedite the rescue operations for the affected residents.
