Kuala lumpur: The selection of Malaysia as the destination for the global launch of the historical epic film "Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story" underscores the country's role as a regional hub for culture and diplomacy, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister stated that this move further strengthens Malaysia's position as a platform where the arts are celebrated, dialogue is enhanced, and human values are brought together.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his appreciation for the efforts of his friend, Akbar Khan, who directed the film, and the presence of the original cast who contributed to the significance of the event. He shared his thoughts in a Facebook post, reflecting on the global premiere screening of the film as a meaningful moment that elevates the arts as a bridge for friendship, understanding, and universal human values.
Anwar noted that the film, after more than two decades, has been reintroduced in an enhanced format utilizing the latest technology while retaining its original beauty. This offers audiences a fresher and more immersive viewing experience. The timeless love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal continues to symbolize sacrifice, loyalty, and the beauty of human creation that transcends time and civilization.
The film, originally screened in India 22 years ago, has undergone a comprehensive 4K digital restoration process, coupled with a Dolby Atmos sound remix. Malaysia serves as the first stop of the film's international tour, which will proceed to Indonesia on February 13 and will later reach other destinations, including Russia, South Asia, and West Asia.
