Ichinomiya:Ichinomiya City: National men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 competition, ending Malaysia's hopes for a medal in the men's doubles event at the Asian Games.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the world number six pair lost to China's Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, the Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallists, with scores of 13-21, 17-21 at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium. Sze Fei noted that issues with the shuttlecock conditions forced them into a defensive strategy throughout the match.

The result means Malaysia cannot replicate their success from the Hangzhou 2022 edition, where Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik secured a bronze medal. Additionally, Aaron Chia and Tee Kai Wun had already exited the competition in the second round.

Izzuddin expressed his disappointment at not reaching the semi-finals but saw the defeat as an opportunity to identify and address their weaknesses ahead of future competitions, including tournaments in Denmark and France. He also highlighted the value of their Asian Games experience, emphasizing the learning gained from teammates and coaches.
