Kelantan: Quick action by a security guard, coupled with the effectiveness of an automatic sprinkler system, successfully prevented a fire at a selfie studio kiosk inside a shopping mall here early this morning from spreading.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a spokesperson for the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Control Centre said an emergency call regarding the incident was received at 6.02 am, prompting the deployment of 13 personnel from the Kota Darul Naim and Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Stations to the scene.
The spokesperson reported that the fire and rescue team arrived at 6.09 am and found that the fire involved a Selfie Studio kiosk measuring approximately 1.8 metres by 3.6 metres inside the building. However, the fire had already been extinguished by the premises' security guard with the assistance of the automatic sprinkler system before the arrival of the fire and rescue team. The estimated damage was around five per cent.
The spokesperson confirmed that no casualties were reported, and firefighters subsequently carried out inspections to ensure there was no risk of reignition before the operation was declared fully under control at 6.13 am.
