Kangar: The Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) collected 1,258.03 tonnes of solid waste following floods that struck Perlis at the end of November.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, SWCorp's chief executive officer Khalid Mohamed stated that the clean-up operation, conducted from November 29 to December 6, spanned 116 affected areas and 8,910 premises under the corporation's supervision.
A total of 189 personnel, including enforcement staff, were deployed to assist in the operation. The effort was supported by 65 machines, comprising 53 mini armroll lorries and 12 backhoes, to expedite the clearing works.
Khalid Mohamed emphasized that the amount collected was indicative of the dedication and commitment of all parties involved in promptly restoring affected areas for the well-being of the residents. He made these remarks at a breaking of fast event at Dewan Bakawali, PDRM Senior Officers' Mess.
He further noted that the success of the operation was driven by close cooperation among government agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders to ensure that post-flood waste was managed efficiently and thoroughly.
