Suspected Drug Dealer Dies in Crash, Companion Hospitalized

Alor setar: A suspected female drug dealer lost her life and her companion sustained serious injuries when their Perodua Myvi skidded and crashed near the Land Office on Jalan Suka Menanti last night. The incident occurred around 8.20 pm, resulting in the death of the 33-year-old passenger at the scene, while the 37-year-old driver was critically injured.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kota Setar police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali reported that officers conducting an Op Gempur patrol noticed the vehicle behaving suspiciously. The police pursued the car, which led to the crash. During a subsequent search, authorities discovered a plastic packet containing 210 grammes of a substance suspected to be heroin.

Syed Basri revealed that the driver had 12 previous narcotics offences, whereas the deceased woman had three drug-related records and one other criminal offence. The woman's body was transported to the Forensic Department at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, and her injured companion is receiving treatment at the same facility. Investigations are ongoing under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
