Super League: KL City Dominates Immigration 3-0 in Season Opener

Kuala lumpur: Kuala Lumpur City (KL City) FC made a winning start to the 2025/2026 Super League season by defeating newcomers Immigration FC (IFC) 3-0 at the State Stadium in Batu Kawan, Penang, today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the City Boys began the first half slowly but managed to break the deadlock when IFC defender Mohd Rizal Mohd Ghazali accidentally turned the ball into his own net while trying to block a move by captain Paulo Josue in the 30th minute.

Following the setback, IFC pushed for an equaliser, but the crossbar denied them after an effort from outside the penalty box by import player Rafael Holstein in the 34th minute.

In the second half, new KL City signing Muhammad Safawi Rasid added to Yusri Che Lah’s squad’s challenges by doubling the visitors’ lead with a header from Argentine import Manuel Hidalgo’s free-kick from the right in the 56th minute.

Visiting goalkeeper Quincy Kammeraad then produced a crucial save to deny the hosts a lifeline by saving a penalty from import striker
Joao Pedro in the 71st minute.

IFC’s difficulties continued when a foul by Holstein on substitute Zhafri Yahya allowed Hidalgo to convert from the spot for KL City’s third goal in the 83rd minute.

The hosts’ hopes of at least pulling one back were dashed when Holstein’s penalty in the third minute of second-half injury time struck the crossbar, marking a challenging start to their maiden Super League appearance.
