Kuching: Kuching City FC are determined to maintain their impressive form to defeat Selangor FC in Sunday’s match and consolidate their position in the top four of the 2024/2025 Super League. Acknowledging the challenge of overcoming The Red Giants, head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said support from fans could be the key to victory for The Cats.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the head coach emphasized the importance of fan support, stating, “We hope the fans will turn up in large numbers for the match because we can see that when they cheer, the players feel more motivated and lift their performance despite being tired. This upcoming game with Selangor FC will be tough because they have very good players.”
Kuching City have shown a commendable performance by winning their last three matches against Kelantan, Pahang, and Kedah, which has boosted their confidence. “We’ve won our last three matches against Kelantan, Pahang, and Kedah, which is a positive sign. We need to improve and be consistent so we can keep up with the top four or five,” he said. Aidil Sharin shared these thoughts after Kuching City beat Kedah 3-0 last night, a victory that allowed them to overtake Terengganu and move into fourth place in the league.
Commenting on Kuching City’s performance in the home match, the Singaporean coach noted that his team managed to pressure their opponents, even though Kedah fielded experienced players in the first half. “We managed to get an early goal by putting pressure in the first half, and I think that changed the game. In the second half, we made some changes and brought in fresh players in preparation for the Selangor match,” he said.
After 21 matches, Kuching City have collected 33 points, one more than Terengganu, showcasing their determination to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
