Johor Bahru: Sunway Construction Group Bhd’s (SunCon) wholly owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, has been awarded a RM260 million contract for the final stage of a data centre project in Johor by K2 Strategic Infrastructure Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the contract represents the stage 3 general contractor package works, supplementing the project’s stage 1 and stage 2 packages accepted on February 10, 2025. The entire project holds a valuation of RM392.7 million and is aimed for completion by March 2026.

SunCon stated that the project is not anticipated to have an immediate material effect on the earnings per share, net assets per share, and gearing of SunCon Group for the financial year ending December 31, 2025. However, the company expressed optimism that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of SunCon Group from the financial year ending December 31, 2025, onwards.

As of now, SunCon Group’s total outstanding order book is reported to be RM6.6 billion. With the inclusion of the latest project, the total new projects secured by SunCon Group this year amount to RM2.2 billion.
