Sultan Of Kelantan Donates Five Cows For MAIK’s Qurban Programme

Kota Bharu: The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, has donated five cows for the Korban Jama’ie (sacrificial ritual) programme organised by the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) in conjunction with Aidiladha. The annual programme aims to support the asnaf (eligible recipients) community through the distribution of sacrificial meat, held at the field of Kompleks Islam Jubli Perak Sultan Ismail Petra in Panji.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIK president Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz, who is also the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan, stated that the five cows were part of a total of 49 that were slaughtered and distributed to 2,000 asnaf in the Kota Bharu district. The sacrificial meat is distributed to the poor and needy through state-administered mosques, with each recipient receiving two kilogrammes of meat and bones.

Every year, the qurban ceremony organised by MAIK is a well-attended affair, supported by cattle donations from members of the royal family, government agencies, and the public. At the event, Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, was present to witness the slaughter of the five sacrificial cows. The Crown Prince spent about 40 minutes with more than 500 residents during the ceremony before departing.

At the same event, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud also performed the slaughter of a cow as part of the programme.
