Sultan Nazrin Opens Muallim District Police Headquarters

Muallim:The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has officially opened the Muallim District Police Headquarters. The opening ceremony saw the attendance of the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim; the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa; and the Raja DiHilir of Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah. They were accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, and Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Nazrin inspected the Main Guard of Honour, which was mounted by the Federal Reserve Unit. This unit included three officers and 102 personnel, led by DSP Mohd Farid Mohd Anuar and assisted by ASP Muhammad Dahlan Dhana Abdullah, with Inspector Muhammad Arwin Fazril Nor Ali serving as the standard-bearer.

During his speech, Shamsul Anuar noted that Muallim is not just an administrative district but also embodies the essence of a "scholar" or "educator," reflecting its heritage as a center of knowledge. He highlighted Tanjong Malim's historical significance, referencing its past as the location of the Sultan Idris Training College, now known as Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.

Shamsul Anuar also recounted the district's history of policing, which began in April 1952 amidst the threat of communist terrorists. He mentioned that, under orders from British High Commissioner General Sir Gerald Templer, the police administration moved from Tanjong Malim to Slim River following several ambushes. The police force, initially operating with limited resources, had evolved over the years, with the construction of a new IPD complex in the 1980s to accommodate growing operational demands.

He emphasized the rapid development within the Muallim district, which includes areas such as Tanjong Malim, Slim River, Behrang, Trolak, and Proton City. This growth necessitated enhanced police readiness and infrastructure. Following Muallim's declaration as a district ten years ago, the government initiated the construction of a modern IPD complex, completed on June 30, 2022, with an investment of RM85 million. Spanning 11.34 hectares, this facility serves as an operational hub featuring advanced technology and efficient communication systems. The project's handover on October 15, 2022, marked a new chapter for the district's administrative and security operations.
