Kuala Lumpur: The list of players who will represent the country in the 2025 Sudirman Cup Badminton Championship is set to be announced on Friday. National doubles coach Nova Widianto mentioned that the coaching team has yet to finalize the squad for the tournament scheduled from April 27 to May 4 in Xiamen, China.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the national squad’s training session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia is ongoing, but the final list of players is still pending. Coach Nova Widianto stated, “The long list is still there, nothing is finalised yet. Maybe we will announce it on April 3, maybe on Friday.”

Malaysia has been placed in Group C along with three-time runners-up Japan, Australia, and rising European team France. Historically, Malaysia has never clinched the mixed team championship since its inception in 1989, with semi-final appearances in 2009, 2021, and 2023 being their best performances.

Meanwhile, host and defending champions China are in Group A with Thailand, Hong Kong, and African champions Algeria.
