Selangor: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari reported that 82 individuals, including 12 who sustained injuries, have been successfully rescued from the gas pipeline blaze in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya. The victims initially received treatment at Surau Nurul Iman and the Sri Maha Kaliaman Temple before being relocated to the temporary relief centre set up at the Masjid Putra Heights multipurpose hall.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the public has been advised to avoid the affected area on Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, as firefighting operations are ongoing. The focus remains on containing the fire and rescuing those affected, under the leadership of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Amirudin noted that a team of 78 personnel has been actively involved in the firefighting efforts since the incident began at 8.10 am. The fire continues to burn due to residual gas in the pipeline, resulting in large flames that are visible in the Jalan Putra Harmoni area.
He further confirmed the establishment of only one temporary relief centre at Masjid Putra Heights at this time. Prior reports indicated that the JBPM was engaged in evacuating nearby residents from the vicinity of the gas pipeline fire.
Selangor JBPM assistant director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, detailed that the blaze was triggered by a leak, impacting approximately 500 meters of the gas pipeline near a public housing area.
