Strong Families Key To National Educational Success – Nancy

Kuching: The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development believes that strong family units are fundamental to the success of the national education system and play a crucial role in supporting the holistic development of children. Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said with this in mind, she proposed closer collaboration between the Kuching District Education Office and the ministry to implement family and parenting support programmes in schools.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy highlighted that in Santubong, there are 26 schools, comprising seven secondary and 19 primary schools. Through the P193 Parliamentary Service Centre, her team continues to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Education and the Sarawak State Education Department to ensure the provision of basic infrastructure, learning support, and other forms of assistance, ensuring students learn in a comfortable and encouraging environment.

Nancy, who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong, made these remarks while speaking at the 2024 Excellent Service Award Ceremony organised by the Kuching District Education Office. She added that the ministry is intensifying efforts to support students from low-income (B40) families by providing school supplies, scholarships, motivational programmes, digital literacy initiatives, and strengthening STEM education.

‘We want our children to be not only knowledgeable but also competitive and resilient in an increasingly challenging world,’ she said. At the ceremony, a total of 414 educators and support staff received certificates in recognition of their outstanding service.
